A contract between a business client (Tour Operator, Online Travel Agency or company) and an accommodation facility (hotel, apartment house, bed & breakfast., etc.). The object of the contract, negotiated annually, is a certain number of rooms (a quota or allotment, hence the term) that the facility makes available to the client. The latter is the depositary of that number of rooms and may sell them to its customers within a specified a time limit specified by the contract. If the client is not able to sell the rooms within that time limit, it must return the unsold allotment of rooms to the manager of the accommodation facility who thus regains possession and may sell the rooms directly.
